Seed Banks 7-12

1. Almond Oil: Almond oil could be a key player in maintaining heart health, regulating blood sugar levels, and preventing damage from free radicals. It's also a fantastic moisturizer for skin and hair, and may even help prevent stretch marks and protect your skin from sun damage.

2. Beech Nut Oil: This oil could be your go-to for relief from headaches, hair care, and antioxidant properties. It also has potential benefits for improved digestion, kidney disorders, and infant health, not to mention its antiseptic properties.

3. Edible Oil: Edible or cooking oil, derived from plant, animal, or microbial sources, remains liquid at room temperature and is suitable for food use. Often, "vegetable oil" is used to label a cooking oil product, which usually refers to a blend of oils often based on palm, corn, soybean, or sunflower oils. These oils are considered heart-healthy because studies consistently link polyunsaturated fat to a reduced risk of heart problems, compared with saturated fat. Despite their potential health benefits, some scientists are concerned about how much of these oils people are consuming.

4. Brazil Nut Oil: The nutrient-rich nuts offer amazing benefits for your hair due to the presence of selenium, a trace mineral. Brazil nut oil provides hair with a natural sheen because of its omega-3 fatty acid content.

5. Cashew Oil: This bean-shaped nut, found in tropical climates, is rich in magnesium and calcium. Its oil helps in maintaining healthy and strong bones and teeth. It helps prevent premature graying of hair by providing the hair and skin an important pigment known as melanin.

6. Hazelnut Oil: Used for hair care and as a carrier oil for aromatherapy or massage oils. But hazelnut oil can also be used as a skin care product. It's loaded with skin-nourishing vitamins and essential fatty acids that help protect skin against sun damage, boost collagen production, and more.

7. Macadamia Oil - May support heart health. It has high levels of monounsaturated fat. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), monounsaturated fats can lower levels of bad cholesterol, which, in turn, can reduce a person's risk of heart attack and stroke. Macadamia oil is a source of antioxidants.

8. Mongongo Nut Oil - Is rich in poly-unsaturated fatty acids, which form a protective barrier on hair's surface. This prevents moisture from escaping, boosts shine, and even helps to protect against sun damage.

9. Pecan Oil - It is beneficial to use while frying, baking, or sauteing food to avoid a rancid flavor as other oils have been known to possess. Pecan oil is also great in salad dressing and dips, as it enhances the flavor with its nutty taste,

10. Pine Nut Oil - In addition to its being a potent satiety promoter and digestive aid, extra virgin pine nut oil is also successfully used in naturopathic medicine to treat peptic ulcers, gastritis, and other gastrointestinal problems, cardiovascular, inflammatory, and autoimmune disorders.

11. Pistachio Oil - Is not ideally suited as a cooking oil. It is used as a sauce or vinaigrette. As a vinaigrette, it can be used in a salad dressing such as balsamic to give a nutty flavour. As a sauce, it can be applied in its natural state to cooked greens, chicken or fish (particularly salmon and trout), shellfish, etc.

12. Walnut Oil - Is a rich source of nutrients and antioxidants, some of which may even improve your memory and concentration. Most of walnut oil's fat content contains the omega-3 fatty acid called alpha-linolenic acid. This "good fat" can reduce your risk of developing heart disease by 10% when part of your daily diet.

13. Pumpkin Seed Oil - Study-proven uses for pumpkin seed oil include lowering cholesterol, easing symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men, reducing hot flashes and hormone-related headaches in women, and reversing hair loss.

14. Grapefruit Seed Oil - Extract is taken by mouth for bacterial, viral, and fungal infections including yeast infections. 16. Orange Oil - Essential oil can be used for a variety of applications that range from lifting mood and reducing stress to adding a fresh, citrusy aroma to a room. Research has shown that orange essential oil may have several benefits. Some examples include antimicrobial activity, pain relief, and anticancer properties.

21. Egusi Seed Oil - Has four main fatty acids namely palmitic, stearic, oleic and linoleic acids. It is an unsaturated (good fat) omega 6 fatty acid necessary for healthy brain function, skin and hair growth, energy production and reproductive health.

That is why flaxseed oil is thought to be useful for rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory (swelling) diseases.

28. Amaranth Oil - Has high concentrations of omega-3 fatty acids. If you're into ingredients which help fight aging, protect against the sun, are anti-inflammatory, and help hydrate your skin, then this is really good news. It's Hip to be Squalene.

29. Apricot Oil - Helps to improve skin tone, maintain softness and radiance of the skin. It also nourishes the skin and lowers the appearance of face wrinkles, fine lines and blemishes (that's the Vitamin C and E working in partnership).

30. Apple Seed Oil - Is used to treat skin ailments such as acne. It is rich in antioxidants that help to clean skin and soothe acne. Apple seed oil has sweet and mild aroma so is added to skin care products and perfumes. It makes the skin feel smooth and soft.

Borneo tallow nut oil is used in making candles, cosmetics and other medicines.

36. Cape Chestnut Oil - Is a very rare natural oil native to South Africa. When applied to facial skin, the skin drinks this natural oil up. High in nourishing essential fatty acids and antioxidants, it helps naturally protect the skin from UV damage. Yangu oil is extracted by cold pressing the seeds of the Cape Chestnut tree.

37. Sunflower Oil - Is a food, a medicine, and a skin treatment.

38. Cohune Oil - Uses of the oil include as a lubricant, for cooking, soapmaking and lamp oil. For this latter purpose the oil was placed in earthenware or soapstone lamps and lit with a wick, for cooking and illumination.

39. Coriander Seed Oil - Is a fragrant, antioxidant-rich herb that has many culinary uses and health benefits. It may help lower your blood sugar, fight infections, and promote heart, brain, skin, and digestive health. You can easily add coriander seeds or leaves - sometimes known as cilantro - to your diet.

40. Date Seed Oil - Traditionally used for animal feed. They can also be used as a source of oil (which has antioxidant properties valuable in cosmetics), as a coffee substitute, as a raw material for activated carbon or as an adsorbent for dye-containing waters

41. Dika Oil - Has medicinal uses. Its bark is a purgative for treating gastrointestinal and liver conditions, sterility, hernias, and urethral discharge. It is also an aphrodisiac and used in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery, body pains, toothache, sores, and wounds. Bark and roots are sources of tannins.

42. False Flax Oil - Used as a lamp oil until the 18th century. In recent times, it has been explored for use in cosmetic and skin care products. It has a high content of omega-3 and is used as a food supplement by some cultures.

43. Grape Seed Oil - Contains high levels of vitamin E, which has high antioxidant properties, and has shown to contribute to the reduction of damaged cells from free radicals in the body. This protection helps prevent heart disease and some cancers.

44. Kapok Seed Oil - Produces several pods that contain seeds covered by fibre. Kapok fibre is yellowish in colour, light, very buoyant, water resistant, resilient, but very flammable. It is used as stuffing in mattresses, pillows, etc. The seed of kapok yields oil that is used in making soap and as fertilizer.

45. Lallemantia Oil - Used traditionally as a stimulant, diuretic, expectorant, in the treatment of common cold, coughing, stomach and abdominal pain. It produced many secondary metabolites such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, tannins, triterpen, mucilage, and oil.

46. Mafura Oil - Nourishes, softens and protects the skin. It is an effective emollient and is ideally suited for parched, dry, itchy, mature and problem skin types. Within hair care applications, the oil serves as a remarkable conditioner and moisturizer.

47. Marula Oil - Is high in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and amino acids. It's widely used as an ingredient in skin care products, and appears to be beneficial for oily, acne-prone, dry, and aging skin. It's also effective at keeping hair soft, supple, and moisturized.

48. Meadowfoam Seed Oil - Has the potential to hydrate your skin and hair by creating a barrier to prevent moisture from escaping. You can apply meadowfoam seed oil directly to your hair or skin, or look for products that contain meadowfoam seed oil in their ingredients list.

49. Niger Seed Oil - Is used as a substitute for olive oil and a substitute for sesame oil for pharmaceutical purposes. In India, niger seeds are also fried or used as a condiment. Niger seed oil is also used in the manufacture of soap and as a lubricant or lighting fuel.

50. Poppy Seeds Oil - Is sometimes used as a cooking oil; it is also used for moisturizing skin. Its primary use, however, is in the manufacture of paints, varnishes, and soaps. Poppyseed oil is a drying oil. In oil painting, the most popular oil for binding pigment, thinning paint, and varnishing finished paintings is linseed oil.

66. Vernonia Oil - Has been proposed as a precursor to adhesives, varnishes and paints, and industrial coatings. Its low viscosity recommends its use as a nonvolatile solvent in oil-based paints since it will become incorporated in the dry paint rather than evaporating into the air.

67. Amur Cork Tree Fruit Oil - It is used as a treatment for pneumonia, bacillary dysentery, meningitis, liver cirrhosis and tuberculosis. The oil is used to treat pancreatitis, lowers cholesterol and sugar in blood and also treats skin ailments. Traditionally, it is used to reduce fever. The fruit is helpful for treating the cold symptoms.

Brucea Javanica Oil - Its emulsion formulation, Brucea javanica oil emulsion (BJOE), has been used clinically to treat carcinomas for many years in China; its clinical indications include lung cancer, prostate cancer, and gastrointestinal cancer. It seems that BJO is a potent apoptotic agent to cancer cells.

73. Burdock Oil - People take burdock to increase urine flow, kill germs, reduce fever, and "purify" their blood. It is also used to treat colds, cancer, anorexia nervosa, gastrointestinal (GI) complaints, joint pain (rheumatism), gout, bladder infections, complications of syphilis, and skin conditions including acne and psoriasis.

74. Buriti Oil - Buriti Fruit oil moisturizes, strengthens, and smoothes the hair; and is an excellent addition to blends for hot oil treatments. BURITI FRUIT OIL helps damaged skin LIKE BURNS, WOUNDS, CUTS, SCARS. It helps heal dry and cracked skin.

75. Candlenut Oil - Oil benefits include its effectiveness in the treatment of joint pain, split ends, psoriasis, fresh wounds, burns, arthritis, premature signs of aging, weak immune system, dandruff, wrinkles, sunburn, stretch marks, scars, blemishes, eczema, and hair loss etc.

76. Castor Oil - Can be used as an irritant/simulative laxative. Castor oil is a natural emollient and a few drops may also be used to remedy dry skin, as a massage oil, and may benefit hair as a treatment. Castor oil contains ricinoleic acid, a fatty acid that comprises about 90% of the oil.

77. Chaulmoogra Oil - Chaulmoogra is an herb. People use the seed to make medicine. Despite serious safety concerns, people put chaulmoogra powder, oil, emulsion, or ointment on the skin to treat skin problems including psoriasis and eczema. Chaulmoogra is given intravenously (by IV) for leprosy.

80. Cuphea Oil - Cuphea could be a domestic source for short- and medium-carbon chain fatty acids such as capric acid and lauric acid used in manufacturing surfactants, detergents, lubricants, personal care products and other specialty chemicals. The current sources are imported palm and coconut oil and petroleum.

81. Honesty Oil - Manicure. Rub a dab of body oil on your cuticles to soften, Pedicure. Rub a generous amount of body oil all over your feet, Perfume, Shaving "cream." Rub generously on legs for a close shave, Frizz-buster, Deep-conditioning hair treatment, Body exfoliator, Bath booster.

82. Illipe Butter Oil - Is high in Vitamins A and E, which are known to soothe and hydrate the scalp and hair. They help stimulate the production of healthy sebum and shield the hair and scalp from external aggressors to keep the hair from drying out and breaking off.

83. Jojoba Oil - Has a variety of healing properties that may make it effective in treating skin conditions like acne, eczema, and psoriasis. You can enjoy its benefits by using it as a cleanser, moisturizer, or spot treatment. It can typically be used anywhere on your body, including your face, without being diluted.

84. Mango Oil - Body butter, face oil, massage oil, face wash, soap.

85. Mowrah Butter Oil - It is an excellent emollient and is just perfect to increase the moisture in the skin, whilst reducing the fine lines and wrinkles. Mowrah butter helps slow down skin degeneration and prevent wrinkles, so you will look youthful for longer. It also helps to protect the skin from the damaging effects of the sun.

86. Neem Oil - It reduces insect feeding and acts as a repellent. It also interferes with insect hormone systems, making it harder for insects to grow and lay eggs. Azadirachtin can also repel and reduce the feeding of nematodes. Other components of neem oil kill insects by hindering their ability to feed.
